01FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Nivoq uses your device's GPS together with the altimeter and accelerometer to automatically detect when you are skiing down a run, riding a lift, or paused. You do not need to press any button: when you open the app at the resort, tracking starts on its own. At the end of the day you will find your full session in the history with all the statistics.
Yes. GPS tracking and offline maps work fully without data coverage. Before going to the resort, download the resort map from Profile → Offline Maps. Your session data is saved locally and syncs with the server when you regain connection. Features that do require internet are: real-time group location sharing, current snow report, and group chat.
Groups: Go to the "Groups" tab, create a group and invite your friends with a code or link. Once in the group, you can enable "Share location" so everyone sees each other on the map in real time.
SOS: The SOS button is always visible on the main screen. Pressing it (and confirming the action) sends your exact GPS location to all members of your active group and shows the resort's emergency instructions. Requires an internet connection to send the alert.

Yes. From the detail screen of any session you can export the track in GPX format (compatible with Strava, Komoot, Garmin Connect and most sports platforms). You can also request a full export of all your personal data in JSON/CSV by emailing soporte@nivoq.app (right to data portability under the GDPR).
You can delete your account from Profile → Settings → Delete account. This permanently erases your profile, session history, GPS data and all associated information within a maximum of 30 days. This action is irreversible. If you have any trouble with the process, write to soporte@nivoq.app and we will handle it manually.
Try these steps:
1. Make sure the location permission is set to "Always" or "While using the app" in your device settings.
2. Enable high-accuracy GPS on your phone (on Android: Settings → Location → High accuracy mode).
3. Keep the app in the foreground during the session, or grant background activity permission.
4. If the problem persists, contact us indicating your phone model, OS version, and the resort where it happened. Sending us the session log helps a lot.
